About your Recovery Key

Your Recovery Key keeps your Okta Personal account safe by adding another level of security on top of your account password. It is made up of 24 letters and numbers, separated by dashes, and it is stored on devices you’ve used to sign in to your account. In case you lose access to your devices, you can use your Recovery Key to regain access your apps.

Only you have access to your Recovery Key so keep it secret and safe. Okta does not store your Recovery Key for privacy reasons, and we will not be able to recover or reset your Recovery Key under any circumstance.

Save and protect your Recovery Key

• Print a copy to keep in a safe deposit box or with your passport or birth certificate.
• Save it to your personal cloud storage, so you always have a digital copy.
• Give a copy to someone you trust, like your spouse or someone in your will.
