Find the Recovery Key for your Okta Personal vault

Okta Personal uses your mobile device to verify your identity, eliminating the need to create or remember a password. In the event you lose access to your mobile device, the Recovery Key helps you regain access to your vault. If you haven’t saved your Recovery Key somewhere safe, we strongly recommend doing it now.

Find your Recovery Key on mobile

You must be signed in to your vault to find the Recovery Key in the mobile app.

1. From your mobile device, open your Okta Personal vault. 
2. Tap Account.
3. Tap Account options.
4. Tap Show Recovery Key. If you haven't already, save your Recovery Key somewhere safe. Take a screenshot, store in cloud storage, or write it down and file away.

We recommend you store the Recovery Key somewhere safe: a locked drawer, USB stick, or cloud storage, for example. Some even take screenshots or photos with their mobile device.

Can Okta Personal support help me reset my Recover Key?

We're afraid our team can't access your Recovery Key — we simply don't have any way to recover it or reset it for you. This is by design, to ensure that your vault is never accessed by anyone but you.

What does my Recovery Key look like?

Your Okta Personal Recovery Key is made up of numbers and letters to make a 24-character code, separated by dashes.
