Get Started with Okta Personal
Welcome! Okta Personal is a free password manager that lets you store the information you want to keep secure, but still access easily: like passwords, notes, and addresses. Using a personal, non-work email to sign up means that your information is always accessible, wherever you are.
You can use Okta Personal on mobile and desktop, so accessing information in your vault is seamless, no matter what device you’re on. Let's get started!
Use Okta at work? Okta Personal is a free personal password manager that keeps your personal items separate from work. Your workplace admin won't have visibility or access to your account. Here's what you need to know:
- Always use a personal, non-work email to create your account.
- Items stored in your Okta Personal vault are yours, even if you part ways with the company.
Create an account
Scan the QR code with the camera on your mobile device to download the Okta Personal app. Then, follow the instructions to create your account. We suggest signing up using a personal, non-work email.
Alternatively, if you'd like to sign up on desktop, visit personal.okta.com.
- Next up, security! These features are needed and help secure your Okta Personal vault across mobile and desktop:
- Biometrics: Biometrics—FaceID on iOS or Face & Fingerprint Unlock on Android—help you quickly unlock your vault on mobile.
- Push notifications: You'll need to allow Okta Personal to send notifications to your mobile device when you want to unlock your Okta Personal vault on a browser on desktop. This extra step makes sure only you can unlock your vault if someone else has access to your computer.
Recovery Key: Sometimes called a secret key, your Recovery Key is needed if you ever lose access to your mobile. Take a screenshot, store in cloud storage, or write it down and file somewhere safe.
That's it! You're ready to fill your vault.
Add items to your vault
Start by exploring apps in the list of suggestions or add one of your own. You can also save secure notes (like your driver’s license ID or Trusted Traveler Number) and addresses. From the Vault, tap the + plus icon to add an app, note, or address.

Set up Okta Personal in your web browser
With the Okta Browser Plugin installed in a desktop browser, you can conveniently launch apps with autofilled login details and effortlessly save new logins to your vault.
Once installed, the Okta Personal icon can be pinned to your toolbar so you can easily access, save, and manage items in your vault.
