Okta Personal sunset: migration guide and timeline
Important note: The Okta Personal product will sunset by the end of January 2027. We're committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you.
What's Happening
In order to make room for the next generation of identity infrastructure and provide the best user experience, Okta will sunset the Okta Personal consumer password manager by the end of January 2027. Read on to learn about how to manage your account and prepare for these changes.
What You Need to Do
Step 1: Export your data
You can export your items from Okta Personal in CSV format. We recommend doing this as soon as possible.
How to export your data:
- Log in to your Okta Personal account
- Navigate to Settings
- Select "Export Data"
- Choose CSV format
- Download your file and save it securely
Step 2: Choose a new password manager
Don’t go unprotected. Choose a new password manager — there are plenty of free and paid options available on the market.
Step 3: Migrate your items
Import your exported CSV file into your chosen password manager following their import instructions. Most of these tools have straightforward import workflows that take just a few minutes.
Step 4: Delete your Okta Personal account (Optional)
If you'd prefer to close your account immediately rather than waiting until January 2027, you can contact us to delete your account for you, or you can self-delete through your account settings:
- Log in to your Okta Personal account
- Navigate to Settings
- Select "Delete Account"
- Follow the confirmation steps
Note: Self-deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure you've exported your data first.

What happens to my data?
All Okta Personal user data will be permanently deleted on January 31, 2027. Nothing persists after that date. If you do not export your data before the deadline, it will be deleted with no recovery option. We strongly encourage you to export your data well in advance of the sunset date.

No. All data is permanently deleted at sunset with no recovery option. Export your data before the deadline.
What if I use Okta Personal through my work/organization?
If your organization enabled Okta Personal for Workforce, that feature will be disabled in November 2026.
